Horror

I drop my daughter off at kindergarten every day. Every day I kiss her goodbye and look forward to seeing her a few hours later. I have no words, but will you join me in prayer for the families at Sandy Hook School?

Dear Lord,

I am overwhelmed by the horror of the shooting at Sandy Hook School. My stomach is sick. I can not begin to fathom what that community and those parents are enduring in this moment.

How can they even begin to see You?

Lord, I pray that the moms and dads can breathe. I pray that the brothers and sisters and friends and relatives can stand without crumbling. I pray the other teachers can survive and endure…

Lord, how do we–as people who love You and want to serve You–see You in the midst of unimaginable grief? Show us dear Lord, what to do.

Isaiah 41:10
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

If there be any way, God, that we women–moms, grandmas, friends–who are so far away can help, please show us. Hear our cry on their behalf, oh Lord. Protect them from any further attack from Satan. Unite them in a hedge of protection under your mighty wings. Show them the dawn. Give them hope. Hear their grief.

Shower the community with wisdom and grace that only comes from You, so that the compassion overwhelms. Help. Them. Breathe. Hold those precious little people in the magnificent peace of heaven and show the families the way home. Make sure that each family knows You and is assured of seeing their loved ones again.

In the mighty and precious name of Jesus.

AMEN
