Our Story

Who We Are.

Meet Brighten A Corner

Welcome to Brighten A Corner Ministry. We are story-loving people who are driven to action by compassion for the overwhelmed. Through serving others in our community we have a joined the narrative of those who are fighting cancer, grieving lost children, helping the homeless, facing the death of a spouse, managing the challenges of special needs kids, reeling from the devastation of divorce and many other scenarios.

It our our fervent prayer that our projects–be they birthday parties, vegetable gardens or entirely remodeled homes–bring hope and comfort.

We believe every person who shows up at a project to serve (in the madness of the 7-10 days we are there) has something incredibly valuable to give. The person who takes load to the Goodwill is just as precious as the contractor who remodels the bathroom. Together, we accomplish great things to show God’s love in a practical and tangible way.

Robin's Story

robin_ryanHave you ever just wanted a different life?

Years ago, as a young, uneducated single mom, I went through my days completely overwhelmed. I went to bed every night and woke up every morning in a dark, weary and burdened place.

God, however, had a much better plan for me.

I met my precious hubby, leaned into parenting, came to the Lord and began to study the Bible. Although my life was not perfect, it was no longer consumed by darkness. As I kept moving forward, I discovered God had broken my heart for the overwhelmed.

I found myself incredibly tender toward those who could not get government help; friends who were not destroyed, but were daunted by things that made people ask, “What can we do?”

Often one person can’t do much, but many people together can accomplish great things. So I gathered a few people together. We reorganized some. We redecorated some. We threw a few parties. And it has grown from there.

I am not as young as I was then. I have been married for a while and now have three beautifully unique and cherished children. I have learned so very much. And I am infinitely grateful God created Brighten A Corner Ministry to teach me how to love others and how to look for Him in the everyday.

Our Mission...

We believe church is more than a building. We believe worship is more than the first thirty minutes of a Sunday morning gathering.
We believe serving makes the life of the servant richer, deeper and more meaningful.

Our mission is to help people put feet to their faith in the humble hope that if we do so together,
we can make a difference for people who are facing extraordinary circumstances.

Philippians 2:13: For it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure.

Robin is the wife of a manufactured home selling, airplane part inventing man who keeps her in stitches and mom to three precious kids who keep her on her knees. She loves planning ministry projects other people think are crazy and teaching weekly Bible Study at a local restaurant that serves the world’s best pastrami sandwiches. In her spare time you will often find her volunteering at her kids’ school, watching 80’s TV on DVD, and unsuccessfully trying to get organized.

She is a mom to 2 beautiful girls and an avid horse lover. When asked why she joined the ministry: “When I hear a story of someone in trouble, I want to do something– something tangible. BAC opens the door for me to help people in ways I would not be able to do on my own.”
