It’s Exciting

It never ceases to amaze me what gets me fired up.

As many of you know, Brighten A Corner Ministry began before Extreme Makeover: Home Edition was on the air. Culturally, we were a bit ahead of the curve.

Two years ago, when John Spence came up with the idea for BAND TOGETHER, a battle of local bands,  as a fund raising event we thought it could be great. We started brain storming and planning, and trying to get sponsors. Some thought we were crazy…that rotating up to 15 bands for 20-30 minutes sets in 8 hours was impossible.

There is the possibility some laughed. Certainly they snickered.

But Spence and his team produced a technically flawless event. God was honored, and fun was had.

God works in amazing ways.

Over the past decade of serving, we have been a very culturally relevant ministry. Believers and non-believers alike get what we do. That is why God is growing my love for BAND TOGETHER so dramatically.

HE is doing something with Christian music on the Central Coast. I don’t know what, but I believe it with all my heart.

I believe BAND TOGETHER is postured to be a part of it, and that this event will grow.

Having a booth at Cantinas this last weekend only fueled the fire. The bands were awesome. The event was great. We just need to get more people to them.

If you want fun, family building, God-honoring entertainment opportunities for your kids, you MUST help to make them profitable.

Because 50 Shades of Grey will be in the theaters soon; basic cable TV is looking more and more like rated R movies of the decades gone by; and life is tearing down the fiber of family values that God teaches in His word. We can do something about it…and have FUN. The Christian life can be VIBRANT and engaging and entertaining, but we can not wait for it to just happen. We must encourage greatness around us.
